Carol and Mary with the stars of TruTv’s Hardcore Pawn

Yesterday morning, I went to watch friends who were appearing on The View.  Four years ago my mother and I were in an online auction to benefit a literacy program in Florida.  A man from Detroit, Les Gold, bid on the lunch with us as a Mother’s Day present for his wife Lily.  We had a great time with them –they told us a lot of interesting stories about the large pawn shop they own in Detroit. We became friends, then one day I got a call from Lily with the news that TruTv was going to do a reality show about their business. It’s called Hardcore Pawn, airs Tuesday nights, and is a big success!  Their children, Seth and Ashley, are on the show with Les.  My mother and I had another fun lunch with them today, at a restaurant called The Landmark in the Time Warner Center.  I’ve posted the picture below.

Mary & Carol Higgins Clark:

Hartford Examiner calls GYPPED “a fresh and fun new entry” into the Regan Reilly series

“Clark’s colorful cast of supporting characters – including a personal assistant with American Idol-like aspirations, a shady financial advisor, a few wannabe actresses, and an eccentric new step-mother – and change of setting will invigorate longtime readers.  Further, the dilapidated Hollywood Hills estate that is Zelda’s temporary residence provides a backdrop nearly as vivid as its occupants.  As is customary, serious issues such as the vulnerability of the newly prosperous and the prevalence of money-making schemes allow for enlightenment by way of entertainment.

Gypped is a fresh and fun new entry into a series that has always offset the horrors of everyday life with humor and heart.  The real mystery here is how to prolong the book for more than just one sitting!”

View on Gypped: the new Regan Reilly Mystery by Carol Higgins Clark (excerpt)

Hello again.  I’m so excited with my new website and look forward to update it frequently with my latest news.

On April 3rd my new book Gypped will be released.  My schedule will be posted and updated as new dates for signings and appearances are confirmed.  Hope to see those of you who can make it to any of the events!

Last December TNT aired DECK THE HALLS which was based on the first Christmas novel my mother and I wrote together.  It’s the book in which my character Regan Reilly meets Jack, head of the NYPD Major Case Squad.  They date for a few books, then marry in HITCHED.  Hopefully more movies will be made soon.  In DECK THE HALLS I had a part playing twin bartenders, one cranky, one sweet.  It was a lot of fun!

Thanks for checking in — hope you will visit again in the near future!
